Tod Jonson Named a Professional of the Year in Historical Writing
Mr. Jonson owns a personal library of 12,000 volumes, consisting primarily of historical biographies and American movie star biographies
FAIRHOPE, AL, August 11, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Tod Jonson, Director Number 1 of the Lake Chapala Society, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for showing dedication, leadership and excellence in historical writing.
Mr. Jonson celebrates an illuminous 45-year career in the movie industry, as well as 25 years of community service in Mexico. For eight years, he has served as director number 1 of the Lake Chapala Society, a nonprofit membership organization that provides education and recreation services for foreigners living in Mexico. Mr. Jonson's position primarily entails writing newspaper articles to promote the area.
Mr. Jonson has cultivated his expertise in historical writing and profiling talented people throughout his career. He has been writing movie star articles and editing with Hollywood columnist May Mann for more than three decades. He was also mentored by movie actress Ingrid Bergman and partnered with the late Hector A. Carranza of Mexico's famous Carranza family. Mr. Jonson owns a personal library of 12,000 volumes in English, considered to be the largest single collection of English material in Mexico by Mexican authorities. It mostly consists of historical biographies and American motion picture star biographies. In 1987, he founded Lakeside Community Awards, which honors members of the Lakeside community who use their talents to benefit the community. Mr. Jonson continues to perform at the yearly award ceremony as a thank you to the Mayor of Chapala, Jalisco, Mexico.
In recognition of his work, Mr. Jonson was recently named a Professional of the Year in Historical Writing by Cambridge Who's Who. This honor follows many for Mr. Jonson, who has won countless awards for writing, acting, the arts and community service. For example, in 2003 he was honored as the Ambassor of Good Will to Mexico.
He intends to continue his expatriate lifestyle in conjunction with theater reviewing in Fairhope, Ala. Beginning in November 2011, he will also serve as head of public relations for Theatre 98, a non-profit community theatre in Fairhope. Ala.
