Never Been Done Before Movie Tells the Story of Pro-Stock Drag Racing in the USA!
100 Million "Motorheads" worldwide have waited 60 years for this picture!
August 01, 2011 /24-7PressRelease/ -- 100 Million "Motorheads" worldwide have waited 60 years for this picture! "10.0 To Glory" follows the life and times of Pro-Stock Drag Racing in America from the humble beginnings at Pomona, California in 1951 right through to the current day. It's "the real deal" showing how it was, and is, in the most watched and most dangerous sport in the world!
Writer, director, producer Joe Carlin was about to go head on into his next project when he was invited to The Shakedown at E-Town at Englishtown, New Jersey by an official supporter of his recently released independent feature film "The Tea Man" . Joe had never been to a drag race before and had no idea what to expect. He said "It took about 10 seconds and I was hooked! You have guys in t-shirts and jeans creating more raw power from the start then the guys in suits and ties at NASA can create for the Space Shuttle take off...incredible!"
Given the fact that a 747 Airplane gets off the ground at 160 mph and these cars run over 200 mph in less than 5 seconds, it's a wonder they can stay on the ground. Like with anything Joe gets involved with, he had to know everything about Drag Racing, where it came from, the players, the rules, what makes up a good team and after researching he was astounded to find that in the 60 year history (2011 being the 60th Anniversary year) not one film was dedicated to the story of Pro-Stock Drag Racing in America. He immediately went to work.
"I was in the middle of editing "The Tea Man" when I started piecing together the story. I didn't want it to be a documentary or just another "all grab no feel" race car movie. I needed this to have substance, I needed it to have respect for the sport and most importantly, I needed to show how the sport evolved. Not just the mechanics but the human element, that was the key." Joe said. Here's a short synopsis of the film:
The Garrett Brother Drag Racing Team survives triumph and tragedy and a young Eddie "Raze" Garrett earns his nickname by leveling all his 10.0 Index Racing competition ever since he was 15 years old. Walking away from a horrific accident that left his best friend paralyzed, Eddie vowed never to race again, but a downturn in the economy forces him to reconsider in order to save his home, his family and provide for his special needs child. Can Eddie take his Index Racing Legacy into "The Big Leagues" of Pro-Stock, "The Grand Daddy of 'em all" and earn a World Championship? He has everything to gain and everything to lose.
Once Joe finished the script there were no better critics in the world then the men and women who actually "lived and breathed" the sport. Joe sent it out and waited. "Big Daddy" Don Garlits, Bruce Allen, Doug Foley, Brenda Paddock, "The Voice" Bob Frey and as unbelievable as it sounds, "The Kid" Darrell Gwynn, all agreed to be part of the film! "I put heart and soul and tears into this script and came up with something that brings out the love and family and hope that surrounds these athletes every time they get behind that wheel. Knowing that these "Living Legends" felt the same way made all that effort worth while."
Joe added, "To do this right, and that's what this story deserves, nothing less, it takes funding. It's not a "good money after bad" situation here. With over 100 million "Motorheads" worldwide, this film has all the potential to blast through box-office records at over 200 mph!"
