Imaging Advantage Launches National Program for Radiology-E.D. Process Optimization

The initiative was developed in conjunction with senior ED physicians and radiologists in Imaging Advantage's national network. In describing the program's importance, Mr. Hall explained its driving principle: "Nearly half of all imaging volume originates in hospital emergency departments. In many cases, ED physicians are relying on preliminary or "wet reads" and complain about inconsistencies in interpretations."

Imaging Advantage outlined plans to roll out the program over the course of this year to its hospital system clients. Mr. Hall explained that the goals for successful implementation of this initiative are intended to drive "complete alignment between Imaging and the ED." These include:

- Improving patient care by removing imaging as an ED throughput bottleneck
- Leveraging imaging workflow dashboards for real-time ED staffing adjustments
- Reducing potential legal liability by eliminating 'prelims' and 'wet reads' dependence
- Enabling 24x7x365 video conferencing of ED physicians and subspecialty radiologists, pre- and post-exam
