Filmmakers from across the Middle East, Asia and Africa will be represented at this year's event.

DUBAI, UAE, November 26, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The 2010 Dubai International Film Festival is sure to be a treat for any movie buffs staying in the emirate midway through next month.

Described by its organisers as the leading event of its kind in the region, the spectacle will take place between December 12th and 19th in a bid to raise awareness of Arab filmmakers and talent on the world stage.

Since the inaugural festival took place seven years ago, the organisers have broadened their horizons to include productions from across Africa and Asia.

Cameroon, Chad, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa will be represented at this year's showpiece event, with seven films from these countries set to feature.

Among these will be Life, Above All from South African director Oliver Schmitz, which tells the story of a young girl whose newborn baby sister dies.

The organisers explained the central character rises above the "gossip and fear" that are a blight on the community she lives in.

This movie is the rainbow nation's official entry for next year's Academy Awards, which may encourage people staying in Dubai hotels at the time to make sure they do not miss it.

Details of admission prices and screening times will be released closer to the event, with the box office opening in late November.
