The annual Milano Film Festival offers a platform for aspiring directors to show off their work.
MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, August 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Milan's annual celebration of independent cinema returns next month for ten days of screenings, special guests and other activities.
Running from September 10th to 19th, the Milano Film Festival is held at venues around the city, with the main competition screenings taking place at the Teatro Strehler.
The festival is now in its 15th edition and has a reputation for attracting up-and-coming film-makers from around the world to the best luxury hotels Milan has to offer.
Several awards are handed out to the entrants, including gongs for best feature film, best short film and the Aprile Award, which goes to the movie that most captures the spirit of the festival.
The best feature film category carries a prize of EUR5,000 (GBP4,100), although the competing directors must impress a jury comprised of leading personalities from the Italian arts world.
As well as the Teatro Strehler, the festival action extends to venues such as Parco Sempione and the Acquario Civico, which hosts a children's version of the event.
Visitors can access every screening held in Milan over the ten days with a festival pass, which is available for EUR45.
Individual showings are generally priced between EUR3 and EUR6, depending on the time of day.
