Breakdown Services' Virtual Channel Network Launches the Showcast Channel with Red Carpet Interviews at the 6th Annual Australians in Film Breakthrough Awards
The new channel will bring the worlds of Australian and United States entertainment even closer together.

LOS ANGELES, CA, May 20, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- On Thursday, May 13th the Thompson Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA hosted the Australians in Film Breakthrough Awards with honorees Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Ryan Kwanten (True Blood). The Virtual Channel Network (VCN) cameras were there to film the red carpet as the first piece hosted on its site under their new channel devoted to Australian events both here and down under, the Showcast Channel. This was Australians in Film's 6th Annual Breakthrough Awards. Past winners have included Sam Worthington, Isla Fisher and Abbie Cornish. The event also introduced the recipient of the 2nd Annual Heath Ledger Scholarship recipient, Bella Heathcote. The Showcast Channel will be premiering an exclusive interview with her shortly. Other guests at the event included Alex O'Loughlin, Rove McManus, Colin Farrell and Yvonne Strahovski.

For 50 years Showcast has been considered the premiere casting system of Australia and New Zealand. It was a natural progression for VCN to develop a channel sponsored by the Breakdown affiliate. The Showcast Channel is dedicated to Australian entertainment in both the U.S. and Australia, from spotlighting casting directors working on features to Australian actors who have made it big in America.
