This year's Shanghai International Film Festival will offer the perfect opportunity to see works by rising stars from both China and abroad.

SHANGHAI, CHINA, May 11, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Shanghai International Film Festival returns this year, bringing a bevy of films, actors and directors with it.

Visitors staying in hotels in Shanghai will be able to take in film screenings across the city between June 12th and 20th, as well as a variety of related cultural events.

Now in its 13th year, the Shanghai International Film Festival will offer films, short movies and documentaries from a wide range of countries and in a variety of genres.

Along with the spectacular star-studded opening and closing ceremonies, one of the highlights of the annual festival is the presentation of the prestigious Golden Goblet awards.

The awards honour the best film, director, actor, actress, screenplay, cinematography and music, with other prizes including a Jury Grand Prix and a non-fixed Jury Award.

Previous winners of the best film accolade have included a collaborative Swedish and Denmark effort entitled Original, as well as Russian movie Mukha and German features According To Plan and Four Minutes.

The jury is typically made up of a host of big names - the members of last year's panel included Danny Boyle, Andie MacDowell and Xavier Koller, among others.

Events will also take place to nurture the best of the rising filmmaking talent in China.
