'Seeing In The Dark' Sees the Light of Day
Gordon Pengilly's short film script 'Seeing In The Dark', has received the green light from Executive Producer David Cormican, The Canadian Short Screenplay Competition and Year of the Skunk Productions.
REGINA, SK, CANADA, June 08, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- The Canadian Short Screenplay Competition, the most prestigious short film script contest in Canada, has handed over the reigns to Regina producer David Cormican and his Year of the Skunk Productions to begin pre-production on the very first script to emerge victorious from the youthful script competition.
Crowned earlier this year as the best script of 2008, 'Seeing In The Dark' weaves the tale of a recently paroled prisoner, as he tries to reconnect with his former life in his first day as a free man, only to discover that he is no longer welcome.
The buzzed-about 'Dark', is also a recipient of the competitively awarded SaskFilm Filmmakers program and will be shooting using the RED camera digital cinema system. An industry first for dramatic short films shot in the province (Saskatchewan). Teaming up behind the camera are long-time industry Cinematographer, Layton Burton and RED camera expert, Colin Hubick.
In front of the camera, Dark's casting is being overseen by Gemini Award winning casting director Carmen Kotyk, who is looking to round out the script with some fresh new faces and talent. With a budget of just under $50K, 'Seeing In The Dark' is slated to commence principal photography in and around Regina July 5th, 2009.
